Our Budding Little Chef

One of Christian's favorite books is a book by Karen Katz called Grandpa and Me where the grandkid and grandpa make a pizza together. Everytime he reads that book, he pretends he's making the dough, sprinkling the cheese, sticking it in the oven and then gobbles up the imaginary pizza. So, we thought it'd be a great idea to make pizza at home and have him really play the part.

I made him a makeshift chef hat using cardstock and tissue paper, presliced all the ingredients and just had him assemble everything. He had a ton of fun and we got to eat a healthy whole wheat organic homemade pizza made by our budding little culinary artist!~ Enjoy the pics!!

Hi Everyone! Today, I'm going to show you how to make a delicious homemade pizza. First, you need to put on your chef hat.

Then, you add some sauce on the crust.

Make sure you put lots of sauce on!

Then, sprinkle lots of cheese.

Add fresh tomatoes and other toppings of your choice.

Here mommy, have a taste!

Mmmm...Pepperoni!

Bake in the oven and Voila! Yummy, delicious, healthy homemade pizza!~

Enjoying the fruits of my labor. Chef Christian signing off!~ ;)

sadie LOVES karen katz books too =) you're so cute sue - if it were me, i'd be too stressed out about the mess that i'd have to clean up after sadie. i'm more like uhhh 3 minutes in the microwave? perfect - here you go kid don't burn the roof of your mouth.

awww what a cute idea! I'm kind of like Kat though about the mess. I am learning to be better and let go, though. I can't believe you have one of those things that lets the kids stand by the kitchen counter. Girl you got everything! Josie would love making pizzas as she loves to sprinkle things too. Maybe we should try it too :) That pizza looks delicious!

The mess wasn't too bad actually. He just got some sauce on his shirt and all we had to do was wipe the countertop down afterwards.

Kat - I love Karen Katz books - they're such a great way for kids to participate during reading time!~

Lucy - that kitchen helper thing is fantastic. But it's kind of dangerous because it folds up and I get scared that Christian's fingers are gonna get stuck when he tries to unfold it himself.

Good way to make use of that leftover tortilla from the other night. Looks delish!

lol, judy. we used boboli whole wheat crust, not the tortillas from our taco night. lol...

jean, i bought mine off of ebay for under $200. it's called the kitchen helper by guidecraft (i think). there's 2 kitchen thingys out on the market. one that's more sturdy but doesn't fold and is super heavy and then this one which is more lightweight and folds. i love the fold away feature but just make sure tyler doesn't try to fold it himself because his finger can definitely get caught.
